Editorial Policy
This page explains how PawAtlas decides what to publish, where the information comes from, and how we correct mistakes. It applies to breed profiles, guides, tools and blog posts.
Our purpose
To help people choose, understand and care for dogs and cats using clear, honest, well-organised information. We aim to describe the trade-offs of each breed, not just the strengths.
Sources we rely on
We compile information from publicly available breed standards and registry profiles (for example from kennel clubs and cat associations such as the AKC, FCI, The Kennel Club, CFA, TICA and GCCF), established veterinary references such as the Merck Veterinary Manual, animal-welfare organisations such as International Cat Care, and published guidance from poison-control services. Where sources differ, we prefer the more cautious statement or give a range.
How a breed profile is built
Every breed profile follows the same structure so that readers can compare breeds fairly: origin, size, lifespan, temperament, grooming, exercise, training, feeding, health considerations, living environment and compatibility. We then add history, practical notes for owners and breed-specific health-screening questions. Numbers such as height, weight and lifespan are shown as ranges because individual animals vary.
Health, food and safety information
We do not diagnose or recommend treatment. Symptom guides explain common causes and, more importantly, when to contact a vet. Food guides label items as generally safe, use caution, or toxic, and state when to call a vet or poison helpline. We keep treatment advice general, and we never suggest giving human medicines to pets.
Tools and calculators
Our calculators use common published formulas and rules of thumb, and we describe their limits on the page. They give estimates only.
Updates and corrections
We review pages periodically and whenever a reader reports a problem. Each profile shows when it was last updated. To report an error, email yuthindia33@gmail.com or use the Contact page. We correct confirmed errors promptly.
Independence and advertising
Advertising and donations help pay for the site, but they do not influence our content. We do not accept payment to feature, rank or praise a breed, breeder or product. Ads are served by third parties and are not endorsements.
