Walk at the right time
Walk in the early morning or late evening, and test the pavement with the back of your hand before you go.
Offer shade and water
Always carry water, and give your dog a cool, shaded place at home.
Never leave a dog in a car
Temperatures inside a parked car rise very quickly and can be fatal even with the windows cracked.
Know the warning signs
Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting or collapse mean you should cool your dog gradually and see a vet immediately. Flat-faced breeds, seniors and overweight dogs are at higher risk.
